Dress Up Day Guidelines

Hooked on Character, not Drugs!

“My Favorite Character”

Dress Up Day

On Friday, October 28, 2016, Auburn Elementary School students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character. The favorite character can be from a book, movie, or even a personal hero. Examples may include, but are not limited to an astronaut, a soldier, a princess, a teacher, a cheerleader, a ball player, etc. To make the day a success, we have guidelines that need to be followed. ** For student to dress up, a paragraph (3-4 sentences) explaining why that character or person was chosen is required.

Most importantly, all costumes must be school appropriate.

Please follow the school dress code, outlined in the agenda. All students participating must come to school dressed in their costume – no getting ready in the building. Therefore, students should not bring makeup or hair products to school. Costumes should not be scary or violent in nature – no bloody or gory costumes. No need for elaborate face makeup.

Basic Costume Don’ts:

  • Costumes may not have parts that interfere with learning. This means no masks or costumes that restrict movement or vision, preventing sitting at desks or participation in physical education class.
  • Costumes must not obstruct movement in the hallways.
  • Costumes must not be violent or suggestive.
  • Costumes must not promote violence or have accessories or props that could be used as a weapon.

Please remember this is still a school day. Students are expected to fully participate in their classes throughout the day. Students should bring a change of clothing, in case their costume is deemed inappropriate by the administration or becomes distracting to the learning process.

We look forward to everyone following the guidelines and having fun! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Assistant Principal at [email protected] or (770) 963-7887.

Summary:

  1. Choose your favorite character.
  2. Write a paragraph explaining why you chose that character.
  3. Come to school dressed up.
  4. Turn your paragraph into your homeroom teacher.
  5. Have fun!
